Tomorrow (10/29/16), CHRC's Executive Director, Dr. Ericka King-Betts, will host “The Issues”, 11:00am - 12:00pm. You can listen online at www.praisecincy.com or on the AM radio station 1230 or FM radio station 101.5.

Discussion will include local, regional and national issues, Cincinnati neighborhoods, and let you know what the Cincinnati Human Relations Commission is doing & everything in between. You don’t want to miss a minute!

Great Youth Debate!

CHRC's Great Youth Debate is scheduled for Saturday, October 29, 2016, 9:00am-1:00pm in Cincinnati City Hall Council Chambers. This year's theme: "What's Trending in the World of the Election". Our young people need to know they have a voice and that using that voice is an option when you disagree. More importantly, disagreeing can be healthy and a beneficial part of life.

The debate topics will include:
* Is America Ready for a Woman as President
* Does Your Vote Really Count
* How far can You go before You become a Political Bully

Prizes and trophies will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams. The Debate is free and open to the public.

TODAY, Resource Fair, 2:00–6:00pm at the Corner of Reading Road & Rockdale Avenue in Avondale hosted by Community Outreach Advocate, Steven Sherman. CHRC’s Community Outreach Advocates (COA) are continuing to give back to the community and provide resources for assistance. In case of rain, the fair will be indoors at South Avondale Elementary School.

Using the theme, “Unity in the Community”, the COA’s goal is to bring the community together. The Resource Fair is a family friendly event that will include inspirational speakers, food, games and much more.

This is a great opportunity for young people to realize how much support they have in our community, as well as, receive information to some resources they may not be aware of. This event is free and open to the public.

COA, Steven Sherman, will host a Resource Fair on Friday, October 28th from 2–6:00pm at the Corner of Reading Road & Rockdale Avenue in Avondale. In case of rain, the fair will be indoors at South Avondale Elementary School.

Using the theme, “Unity in the Community”, the COA’s goal is to bring the community together. The Resource Fair is a family friendly event that will include inspirational speakers, food, games and much more.

Ohio Attorney General’s Office's community conversation on “Consumer Awareness & Protection"

Thank you to everyone who came out last night in the rain to learn more about how you can protect yourself, business, family & friends from fraud and scams.
The Cincinnati Human Relations Commission in collaboration with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office hosted a community conversation on “Consumer Awareness & Protection".
The Ohio Attorney General is committed to protecting Ohio consumers from scams, fraud and other unscrupulous business practices. In addition to investigating, prosecuting and litigating consumer complaints, the Ohio Attorney General has developed a prevention program to educate Ohio consumers before they become a victim.

Sukkah Art Exhibit "Home” Art Exhibit

Yesterday staff attended the Under One Roof: Sukkah Art Exhibit "Home” Reception. 

Join the Cincinnati Human Relations Commission (CHRC) along with other artists and view large multimedia fabric panels exploring this years theme “Home” in the Mayerson JCC courtyard displayed in celebration of Sukkot.* Below is CHRC's panel. 

Find out about the heart of other panels while we share the soul of CHRC’s piece.

In collaboration with Cincinnati ArtWorks and over 40 local organizations, Under One Roof is a unique space where people are invited to have a meal, conversation and view the art in this one-of-a-kind community art collaboration.

*Sukkot is the Jewish Harvest Festival and is celebrated by building a sukkah (booth) outdoors and welcoming guests.

Morehead College Tour

Saturday, October 15th, Community Outreach Advocate, Dorron Hunter, escorted youth on a College Tour to Morehead State University.

During the visit the group met football players, saw the dorms and even had lunch with current students and tours of various departments on campus.



By showing them places outside the city and introducing them to people outside Cincinnati, teens were exposed to the world outside of what they know. Students from Shroder Paideia, Finneytown, Hays Porter, Silverton Paideia and Woodard spent an entire day at Morehead State University for another round of college visits. Richard Lane, camera man for Local 12 News WKRC, also attended the tour.

Rethinking Racism

The community requested one more Rethinking Racism before the year ended, so here you go. Join us Thursday, November 17, 2016, 6-9:00pm, Gathering at Northern Hills, a Unitarian Universalist (UU) Community located at 460 Fleming Road, Wyoming, 45231.

Morehead State University College Tour

Saturday, October 15th, Community Outreach Advocate, Dorron Hunter, will escort youth on an all day College Tour to Morehead State University. In past years, Taft High, Chase, Withrow & Silverton Paideia have participated in the College Tour.

Youth will experience a tour of campus, lunch in the cafeteria with some of the football players, and a laser show in the Space Science Center.


Tour guides will talk about colleges, tuition and scholarships they could earn with good grades.

While opinions may vary, it is certain that silence will not solve our complex institutional and social racial issues.

We would like to thank everyone who worked together and who supported the committee's effort to recognize Indigenous Peoples Day to reflect upon the ongoing struggles of indigenous people of this land, and to celebrate the thriving culture and value that all indigenous people add to our City; and urging other businesses, organizations, and public entities to recognize Indigenous Peoples Day.

Unfortunately, today's resolution did not pass. But the work continues.

Recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day

Today, the resolution passed unanimously out of the City of Cincinnati’s Human Services, Youth and Arts Committee. The resolution recognizes the City's support for the recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day to reflect upon the ongoing struggles of indigenous people of this land, and to celebrate the thriving culture and value that all indigenous people add to our City; and urging other businesses, organizations, and public entities to recognize Indigenous Peoples Day. Next, it will go before Council for a vote.
