Bleed for a Cause

How it works. Your organization and all of your supporters persuade people to donate blood in February. They give blood in your organization’s name. You earn points. The three charities with the most points are the winners! And here’s what they will win …
  • 1st Place = $10,000
  • 2nd Place = $5,000
  • 3rd Place = $2,500

  • The Cincinnati Human Relations Commission has signed-up for this event. We are urging everyone to give blood in the month of February for the Hoxworth Blood Center. Each time someone goes in to give blood, either say our name or give them our passcode which is HUM. In doing this we will receive points. The organization with the most blood donated will have the most points, and will win a cash prize for their organization. Please help us and go out to Hoxworth and donate blood!

Interfaith Candlelight Program for Newtown victims hosted by Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati and Muslim Mothers Against Violence

Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati and its Muslim Mothers Against Violence initiative, MMAV, offers its heartfelt sympathy to families of those who lost their innocent lives as a result of the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown CT on Friday Dec 14th. These precious lives and the terrifying and senseless way in which they were taken are mourned deeply for countless reasons. We as fellow Americans and a community of faith pray for peace and comfort for the parents and families of those who were killed and love from the Almighty Creator for the innocent lives at this time of insurmountable grief.

The Interfaith candlelight vigil to be held Thursday December 20th will remember and honor those whose lives were so tragically taken from them.  The program focus will be to nurture the good God created in all of us, lessons in dealing with horrific tragedies as parents and families, honor the teachers who teach and love our children and the ever growing need for us to come together as communities and as a country in overcoming tragic times and the painful culture of violence that is so deeply impacting our children.

The Islamic Center opens its doors and Muslim Mothers Against Violence opens its hearts to welcome all of our community, our interfaith partners, our families from the International Academy of Cincinnati and other area schools, on Thursday, December 20th for the candlelight and program to be begin immediately after Isha prayer held at 7:30 pm. The program will be held in the Community Center on the grounds of the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati, 8092 Plantation Drive West Chester, Ohio 45069.

MMAV was established as an Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati initiative in 2005due to the London Subway bombings to be a Muslim Mother and their friends’ voice against terrorism and violence against all innocent people, to guide our youth to non-violent ways of dealing with problems and to unite with friends of all faiths to help promote a culture of non-violence and a peaceful world  for all of our children.
