Jackie Robinson and the Mayor's Friendly Relations Committee

In 1948 (Jackie Robinson’s 2nd year in the league), the Mayor’s Friendly Relations Commission now the Cincinnati Human Relations Commission created a poster project to fight for racial and religious understanding. In this photo, you can see former Reds player (Dan Lithwiler) and Jackie Robinson posing for a picture with the poster.

“What’s his race or religion got to with it – He can Pitch! Keep pitching for EQUAL RIGHTS for all Americans. Remember – Home Runs are made by children of every race, color, creed and national origin.” Since 1943, the agency has been a voice in this community & will continue to fight for equal rights.

I found a small print, maybe 3" X 6", at an antique store with this exact message ("What's his race or religion got to do with it- HE CAN PITCH!") It's really interesting. I'd love to learn more about it.
