OUR DAILY BREAD CELEBRATES 28 YEARS OF STABILITY AND HOPE IN OVER-THE-RHINE

Cincinnati, OH- This month Our Daily Bread is celebrating its 28th year of operations as and as part of their anniversary celebration Our Daily Bread is collecting fond memories from its guests, volunteers, and staff during the month of February. These memories are being collected and displayed in the main dining space. Have you made an Our Daily Bread memory in the past that you would like to share? Please send memories to Melissa Back at 513-621-6364 or melissa@ourdailybread.us. Our Daily Bread is also seeking donations of $28 in honor of our years of service. The names of those who donate will also be displayed with our memories, as well as on our website and Facebook page.

In 1985, Ruth (Cookie) Vogelpohl saw a man eating from a garbage can in downtown Cincinnati. This experience bothered her so much; she thought there must be something she could do. With the help of family and friends she started a small soup kitchen with a simple goal: to provide a warm meal and a welcoming environment to all who entered the doors.  Since then, Our Daily Bread has sustained this mission with the generous monetary and in-kind donations from its supporters and volunteers.

Here are some memories that guests and staff have shared:

“I remember when I had my wedding at our old Our Daily Bread location. The staff took care of everything!”
“I enjoy the Holiday party the Bingo volunteers put on for us every year.”
“I love getting a birthday cake here. They are homemade and make my day special.”
“They give me good food and bless me with good service.”
“I have been coming to your free Bingo game every week for years and years.”

Our Daily Bread is an Over-the-Rhine non-profit ministry of hospitality dedicated to serving the needs of the neighborhood residents and those who frequent the area. The ministry provides stability and hope for its guests and the neighborhood community. It is a place where guests are invited to share a warm meal, receive social services, and to socialize in a caring, supportive and welcoming environment. We encourage you to help us throughout the year by supporting Our Daily Bread in any way you can. Please visit www.ourdailybread.us for more information.

If you would like more information, or to schedule an interview with the Executive Director, Tyler Pettigrew, please call Melissa Back at 513-621-6364 x 17 or email  melissa@ourdailybread.us.
