A new exhibit, "America's Gun Culture," will open on April 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM at The Dayton International Peace Museum.
Ron Rollins, Senior Editor at the Dayton Daily News, will introduce the exhibit with a presentation at 2:00 PM in the Museum's Holbrooke Peace Hall.
With an estimated 300 million firearms in circulation, many argue that the nation is inundated with weapons and fear the human toll they've taken is too high. Over 30,000 people die each year from a gun-related injury. At the same time, guns are enjoyed by tens of thousands of Americans for sport, and many more rely on them for self-defense.
The history of guns, statistics about US and international gun deaths, an overview of legal issues, and data about gun violence will be part of the exhibit. On a lighter note, displays will include a selection of gun quotes, "bumper sticker" sayings, editorial cartoons, posters, comic strips and other gun- related activities.

EXHIBITS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER HELP
The Peace Museum's Exhibits Committee is looking for a well-organized volunteer to help develop a new outreach program. Many months of work are devoted to researching and producing each of the exhibitions that is displayed at the Peace Museum and we want to share these displays with a wider audience, such as at libraries, churches, schools, community centers, etc. If you are interested in working on this project, please contact Chris Saunders, DIPM Exhibits Coordinator, at 937/435-3550 or csaunders856@aol.com.
