Photo: The Cincinnati Human Relations Commission is proud to announce that the Board of Commissioners has re-elected Ms. Elizabeth Brown as the Board’s Secretary. Elizabeth Brown is the Executive Director of Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME). HOME is a nonprofit agency in Cincinnati, Ohio, which enforces fair housing rights and works to build stable, integrated communities. HOME was formed in 1968, the same year the Federal Fair Housing Act was passed, and is nationally recognized as a leader in the fair housing movement. Prior to coming to HOME in 2004, Ms. Brown worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the Cincinnati Field Office, with jurisdiction over 13 counties in Southwest Ohio. During her 6 years with HUD, she worked across all of HUD’s programs, from FHA and homeownership to community development and public housing. 

Prior to joining HUD, Ms. Brown worked with a nonprofit manufacturing extension program (TechSolve) in Cincinnati. Her economic development experience includes serving as Director of the Cinergy Industrial Competitiveness Center and working with the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce to create a Port Authority for Brownfields Redevelopment.

Ms. Brown has a J.D. from Boston College Law School and worked with the Tennessee Valley Authority for 13 years in legal and management positions. Please join us in congratulating Elizabeth Brown.
